High School Tuba/Euphonium Competition
High School Trombone Competition
Applicants must be High School Seniors during the current 2016-2017 academic year and must be trombonists (tenor or bass) who are interested in pursuing Music Education at the at Eastern Illinois University.
Applicants must complete the following EIU Music Admission and Scholarship form:

Applicants must register to attend the 2016 MTEC for at least the day of the competition finals( Saturday, Nov. 5th, 2016); however, they are encouraged to register for and attend the full conference, especially the Sunday, Nov. 6th HS Low Brass Day.
Applicants must submit an audio recording, such as an email with an attached audio file, or a link to an unlisted YouTube video, Dropbox, or SoundCloud, of the excerpts listed below to firstname.lastname@example.org on or by Oct. 23rd, 2016. Please note that Google’s size limit on audio files is 25 MB on attachments.
Finalists will be notified of their advancement by Oct. 30th, 2016.
The Finals/Auditions will take place on Saturday, Nov. 5th, 2016, at 10 AM in the Doudna Fine Arts Center at EIU.

1. Etude in G Major - Andante con moto by Blazhevich, Meas. 1-Fine (p. 26)
2. Etude in A Minor - Allegretto by Vobaron, Meas. 1-Fine (p. 21)
Concert Etudes for Tuba (or Bass Trombone), David Uber; R. King Music/Alphonse Leduc & Co.
1. Etude #8 - Andante con moto,, Meas. 1-17 (p. 12)
2. Etude #13 - Allegretto grazioso, Meas. 1-40, (p. 17)
Final Round Repertoire:
Finals/Auditions will take place at 10 AM on Saturday, Nov. 5th in the DFAC at EIU.
Repertoire includes excerpts from both of the preliminary round etudes that will be selected by the committee on the day
of the final/audition, plus major scales and a short sightreading example
The Pete Taylor Trombone Scholarship is approximately $900 - $1000 and will be awarded during the 2017-2018 academic year to the prize winner (or to the runner-up or other alternate) who meets all requirements for admittance to the university and the music education program and who subsequently enrolls at EIU in the music education degree program. The recipient will be announced during the 3PM Finale Concert on Sunday, Nov. 6th, 2016
